Eastview Heights – Verona, WI
Eastview Heights is a subdivision in Verona, Wisconsin located one mile southwest of Madison, Wisconsin. Verona boasts one of the finest public libraries in the country. The 31,000-square-foot building features a stone fireplace, a quiet reading room and a children’s reading castle.
Wireless internet access is provided along with guest lectures and other activities. The city’s recreational department also offers many youth and adult programs such as soccer, basketball, baseball, dance, basketball, baseball, camps, canoeing, and babysitting classes.
There are four elementary schools in Verona: Country View Elementary School, Glaciers Edge Elementary School, Stoner Prairie Elementary School and Sugar Creek Elementary. Area middle schools include Badger Ridge Middle School and Savanna Oaks Middle School.
One public high school, Verona Area High School and one private high school, Edgewood High School, are also located in Verona. Nearby higher education facilities include Edgewood College, Globe University, Madison College and University of Wisconsin.
Verona is conveniently located near US 18/151. Residents are provided train service by Amtrak and commercial flights are available at Dane County Regional Airport.
Entertainment and Attractions
Several shopping malls provide plenty of shopping and dining for Verona residents. East Towne Mall, Westgate Mall and Middleton Mall are just minutes away. Residents can also visit the numerous cheese shops and wineries located in the area. They can also enjoy a play at the Verona Area Community Theater.
The Verona Performing Arts Series draws many nationally recognized artists. Verona holds concerts in the park during the summer months. Verona residents can also visit one of the nearby museums such as the Chazen Museum of Art or the Wisconsin Historical Museum.
There are more than a dozen parks and a number of ponds covering in excess of 100 acres of land. Badger Prairie County Park and Prairie Moraine Dane County Park both provide access to the National Ice Age National Scenic Trail.
A canoe and kayak water trail is available at the Upper Sugar River Watershed for those interested in water sports. The Goodman Aquatic Center and the Fireman’s Park and Beach also provide swimming facilities.
During the summer many remote control boating enthusiast can be found maneuvering about Prairie Oaks Pond. The area is also noted for bird watching and many beautiful flower gardens. Olbrich Botanical Gardens features a collection of more than 16 acres of award winning rose gardens.
Visitors to Olbrich Bolz Conservatory will experience an indoor tropical paradise. In the winter ice skaters can enjoy a trip to Harriet Park or the Eagle’s Nest Ice Arena. Harriet Park incudes a heated shelter. Golfers can visit the University Ridge Golf Course for a round of golf. There are numerous trails in the area for hiking, biking and skiing.
Verona holds an annual festival each year on the second weekend in July. The Home Days Festival provides live music, food and a carnival. The festival also includes a parade and fireworks. Each year in September, athletes from all over the world pass through Verona during the Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon.
