Westmorland – Madison, WI
Westmorland is a historic neighborhood in Madison, Wisconsin that was built between 1925 and 1960, and most of the homes in this area are from that period. It’s a robust neighborhood not far from the active downtown area to the northwest, the UW Campus to the north, and the beautiful UW Arboretum with peaceful Lake Wingra to the southeast.
There’s so much in the area like great churches, quiet Westmorland Park right in the center of this pristine neighborhood, shopping and the acclaimed Sequoya branch of Madison Public Library on its edge, and the 9-hole Glenway Golf Course just to the east. The homes are wonderful and won’t break the bank if you choose to buy one.
Westmorland’s Homes and Condos
The homes are period ranches from 50-60 years ago when this subdivision was only starting out, but they are updated with modern amenities. There are also some newly built condominiums on the western edge of the neighborhood above Sequoya Commons shopping center, and all are great choices depending on your needs.
Most homes have one-car garages, open floor plans, and are either 1 or 2 stories. Condos are 1-2 bedroom and 1-2 baths, while houses usually have 2-4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. Many homes and all condos come furnished with all that you’ll need, from microwaves and stoves to washer/dryers.
The houses have spacious yards and most homes have fireplaces and updated kitchens, perfect choices for families moving to Madison.
Prices for condos range from $180-350,000, which is also a general price range for the stupendous houses in Westmorland, an affordable option in Madison’s increasingly competitive real estate market.
Madison’s many facets
Madison is a busy town and has so much available for anyone who moves in that it can be difficult to name everything. From big-name concerts at the Alliant Energy Center, to small indie acts playing at the many clubs and coffeehouses around the UW campus and downtown, and a great deal in between, there is a lot that Madison has to offer, and all of it is very close and often within walking distance if you choose Westmorland as your neighborhood.
