Parks and Recreation
The wide varieties of parks in the area promote exercise and offer many amenities to their visitors. Dahl Park offers a playground and a small pond area for children and adults to play in and around.
Hank’s Hollow Park has various playground equipment for the younger crowd.
Liberty Land Park offeres a mile long bike and walking trail. Meadow View Park also has a walking trail with a few small ponds and access to a small gazebo. Veteran’s Memorial Park has a gazebo as well and also offers a memorial and open play area. Conservancy Commons Park has a splash pad.
Fireman’s Park, Sunnybrook Park, Western Green Park, Yahara Park, and Sunfish Pond are also available destinations. Conservancy lands and trails available are the Bakke Conservancy, Schweer’s Conservancy, Yankee Environmental Conservancy, and the Yahara River Trial System.
Programs and organizations the area has set up include the Sun Prairie YMCA, and open gym, the DeForest Area Youth Football League, USTA Tennis Program, Windsor-DeForest Community Boys Baseball League, and the Adult Summer Softball League.
Area Developments
There are many residential and commercial developments in the area already done and in progress. Chapel Green, Conservancy Place, Heritage gardens at Erickson Farms, Tuscan Ridge, Innovation Springs, Savannah Brooks, and North Towne Corporate Park are all completed developments while Savannah Brooks, Three Bridges, Bear Tree, and DeForest Business Park are all in progress or pending approval.
With so much growth in the town, it is easy to see why people are flocking to the area.
DeForest Area School District
The DeForest Area School District serves the children in the area with a great bunch of schools. There is a program for Kindergarteners by the name of the Holum Center that offers a half day Kindergarten program.
Elementary Schools in include Eagle Point Elementary School, Windsor Elementary School, Morrisonville Elementary School, and Yahara Elementary School.
The area has one available Middle School and High School by the names of DeForest Area Middle School and DeForest Area High School. There is also New Reflections Alternative Program available for students in the area.
There are three Elementary Libraries available for the children and teachers to utilize, two Middle School libraries, and the DeForest Area High School Library for the oldest students in the area.
In 2009, the Superintendent of this school district was named Wisconsin’s Superintendent of the Year.
