    From the grade school students in Waunakee move on to an intermediate school that houses fifth and sixth graders for the whole district. Grades 7 and 8 attend middle school, and high school is ninth through twelfth grade.

    Overall the students in Waunakee score high on reading and math assessments, yet the school district is also aware of the things that make a well-rounded education, like science and the arts.

    Waunakee is definitely business friendly. The Village has a strong history as a local supply and shipping center. There are industrial businesses in the 160 acre Waunakee Business Park including Uniek, Madison Freight System Inc., Robinson Brothers Environmental Inc., and NORD Gear Corp.

    There is also a vibrant downtown in Waunakee, with local businesses. The Chamber of Commerce has hundreds of members that strive to bring business and community together to keep Waunakee growing.

    Faith, Health and Helping in Waunakee

    Waunakee is fortunate to have several churches that are active in the community, both individually and in partnership to benefit all of the citizens. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is home to a private school as well. Waunakee has a food bank for those in need of help with meals.

    There are a number of home health agencies, doctors and other caregivers and homes for the elderly in the city, and several childcare centers, too. It is a community that serves citizens of all ages.

    Celebrating Waunakee

    Like many other communities, holidays are important in Waunakee. Summer sees a Memorial Day Parade, and Waunafest celebration at the end of July. June 2012 saw the Imagination Celebration a great community activity that featured creative and imaginative members of the community for great fun and creative approaches to growing the community.

    One outcome was an index of all participants so that others can connect with them and take advantage of their abilities.
