    Verona’s History

    Originally inhabited by Native Americans, Verona, Wisconsin was completely annexed by the U.S. government by 1832. The settlement of this location heavily revolved around the construction of Badger’s Mill that was completed in 1844.

    Badger’s Mill was later expanded to include a post office, store and other businesses that opened shortly afterward. On April 18 1978, the City of Verona was officially established and continues to develop as a community with an expected job growth rate of 37.68 percent for the near future.

    Recreational Activities

    Known as “Hometown U.S.A.”, Verona has an event called “Hometown Days” to celebrate its adopted nickname (given by 1966 by a detachment of fighting men in Vietnam) every June that welcomes people of all ages to participate in summertime fun. There are also many ongoing recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing, bike riding and more while living in Verona, Wisconsin.

    Just east of the City of Verona at the intersection of U.S. Highway 151 and East Verona Avenue (County Highway MV) is Badger Prairie County Park. It has a field for flying model airplanes, a dog exercise area, play fields, mountain bike trails, a playground and a shelter facility.

    Military Ridge State Trail and the Verona segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail can also be accessed from here and lies in the center of the Ice Age Trail Junction Area. Other areas of interest to explore include:
